engineerLike many words in the dictionary, "virtual" has several meanings. One has become almost synonymous with "not being there." We don't like that one. We do like this definition of "virtual" –

"virtual  - noun; having the inherent power to produce certain effects."

To us, WorkVirtual is about having the power to work whenever and wherever you need to. It might be from a client's office, or an airport lounge, or one of those cheap hotels your finance dept. makes you stay in.

WorkVirtual is not about "telecommuting," although it welcomes employees who need to work from home. It's not about "hoteling." It's about building a workspace which embraces flexibility.

WorkVirtual is about not immediately defining a workspace by putting up four walls. (If you think "cubicles" are a big step forward in office architecture, please browse elsewhere.) There might be quiet spaces for collaboration, private spaces for concentration, and big, noisy spaces for celebration. Some of "the office" may even exist on the employee's computers.

Your workspace should unite, rather than divide. It should be about teamwork, not territory.

It should be a reflection of your own corporate culture and a statement of how you welcome the challenges of the 21st-century.
